International Review of Bulgarian Studies 

International Review of Bulgarian Studies is an annual peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Center for Bulgarian Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

The journal provides a forum for the publication and exchange of original research in the field of Bulgarian Studies and related disciplines. It aims to encourage scholarly dialogue and support the development of Bulgarian Studies in an international academic context.

The journal welcomes contributions in a broad range of areas, including Bulgarian language, literature, culture, history, society, politics, comparative studies, translation studies, and other topics related to Bulgaria and the Balkans. In addition to research articles, the journal also publishes book reviews, review articles, conference reports, information about academic events, and announcements of recent publications.

Articles may be submitted in Bulgarian, English, or Korean.

Open Access Policy

International Review of Bulgarian Studies is an open access journal. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution–NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-ND 4.0).

Under this license, articles may be copied, distributed, reproduced, and shared in any medium, including for commercial purposes, provided that the original author and source are properly acknowledged.

The articles must be distributed in their original form. They may not be altered, adapted, transformed, translated, or used to create derivative works without prior permission from the copyright holder.

Publication Ethics

1. Originality

Submitted manuscripts must present original research and must not have been previously published in the same form.

2. Plagiarism

Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable. Authors are responsible for properly citing and acknowledging all sources, quotations, data, and ideas used in their work.

3. Multiple or Concurrent Submission

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not be under consideration by another journal or publisher at the same time. This also applies to translated versions of the same work.

4. Data Fabrication and Falsification

Authors must present accurate and reliable research findings. Fabrication or falsification of data, images, or research results constitutes unethical conduct and will result in rejection of the manuscript.

5. Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the conception, research, writing, or interpretation of the study. All individuals who meet these criteria should be listed as co-authors.

6. Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors must properly acknowledge the work of other researchers and cite all relevant publications that contributed to the development of the submitted study.

7. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that may be considered a potential conflict of interest.

8. Corrections and Retractions

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a published article, the author is expected to notify the editor or publisher promptly and cooperate in correcting or retracting the publication when necessary.

Copyright Policy 

Authors retain copyright of their work published in International Review of Bulgarian Studies.

By agreeing to publication in the journal, authors grant the Center for Bulgarian Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, archive, and make the work publicly available in print and electronic formats.

Authors retain the right to use, distribute, republish, and archive their own work, provided that the original publication in International Review of Bulgarian Studies is properly acknowledged.

Copyright Transfer Agreement 

After a manuscript has been accepted for publication, authors are required to complete and submit a copyright agreement to the publisher, the Center for Bulgarian Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

The agreement may be submitted by post, email, or through an electronic form provided by the publisher. By signing the agreement, the author grants the publisher the right to publish and distribute the work in accordance with the journal’s open access policy.
