The journal International Review of Bulgarian Studies is published annually by the Center of Bulgarian Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
The purpose of the journal is to create a space for exploration and dissemination of original research, while cultivating a vibrant community of scholars of Bulgarian Studies.
The articles cover a broad spectrum of topics in Bulgarian Studies, comparative studies, literature reviews, event information, publication announcements, etc.
The texts can be in Bulgarian, English or Korean.

Open Access (OA)
The International Review of Bulgarian Studies is an open access journal. Articles published in the journal are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonDerivative License (CC-BY-ND), which permits free use, reproduction, and distribution in any medium, provided that the original works are properly cited. Under this license, the texts cannot be altered, transformed, adapted, or built upon in any way, and they cannot form the basis for derivative works.
However, creating derivative works, such as translations, is permissible when done by the author(s) of the original text.
The use and redistribution of whole articles or parts of them in books, other media, and platforms are allowed for educational, scholarly, non-commercial, and even commercial purposes, without requiring permission from the publisher, provided that the original author and the publisher are duly credited.
Publication Ethics
1. Originality and Plagiarism: All submitted manuscripts must be the original work of the authors. Plagiarism, in any form, is unacceptable and will lead to the rejection of the manuscript. Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if they have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.
2. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication: Authors must ensure that manuscripts submitted for publication are original and have not been published elsewhere, nor are they under consideration by any other journal or primary publication source. This includes versions of the articles translated into other languages. Concurrent submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals is unacceptable and is considered a violation of ethical publishing standards.
3. Data Fabrication and Falsification: Authors are expected to present accurate and authentic research findings. Fabrication (making up data) or falsification (manipulating research data, images, or findings) is unethical and will be considered as grounds for immediate rejection of the manuscript.
4. Authorship of the Manuscript: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors.
5. Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.
6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: All submissions must include disclosure of all relationships that could be viewed as presenting a potential conflict of interest.
7. Fundamental Errors in Published Works: If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with them to retract or correct the paper.
Copyright Policy
The copyright of the texts/articles published in the International Review of Bulgarian Studies, along with associated rights, are transferred to the publisher, the Center for Bulgarian Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, with the author(s)' consent. Nonetheless, author(s) retain the right to use, distribute, republish, and translate their articles without needing the publisher's permission. In such cases, the original publication source, the International Review of Bulgarian Studies, and the publisher, the Center for Bulgarian Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, must be appropriately acknowledged.
Copyright Transfer Agreement
Upon acceptance of an article for publication in the International Review of Bulgarian Studies, the author completes and submits a Copyright Transfer Agreement to the publisher, the Center for Bulgarian Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. This submission can be made via post, email, or through an electronic form provided by the publisher. The execution of this Agreement grants the publisher the rights to publish and disseminate the author's work.
